I'm a mom and a writer, a volunteer, a technology consultant, eLearning designer, project manager, a breastfeeding counselor, and a hundred other things all at once.
My kids are my first and most important job. They're in school now, well--not now exactly because it's nighttime and I do most of my writing at night, but when it's daytime and September to May they're in school. Unless it's a holiday. But you get the drift.
There are two of the little buggers, and they are the most awesome people on earth. I look at them sometimes and it literally takes my breath away. I feel lucky to be the one who gets to get them ready for this big bad world. I have help, natch, but I don't talk about him much online (his preference, but a little bit of mine too. Sorry, never was good at sharing.) He's awesome and a great dad and I feel lucky to have met him way back forever ago and even luckier to share this parenting journey and suburban insanity with him, but don't expect to hear much from me about him.
The kids, though. Well, prepare to be nauseated.
No "about me" post would be complete without mentioning my yin-yang cats. One white and fat and male and friendly, one black and skinny and female and bitchy. Have had them both for 8+ years, the black one even longer.
And we've recently expanded the family to include a dog, as insane as that sounds (at least to me.) Daisy is a light yellow brindle whippet and she's an awesome dog. She avoids the black cat, and tries to befriend the white one (who is naturally having none of it.)
This blog is a place for a lot of different things, and I hope if you've come here for one reason you'll consider reading posts on other subjects, too, because it's all unified somewhere in my head. Hopefully sometimes I manage to make that clear on the screen. Breastfeeding and parenting topics are things that are on my mind a lot, so you can expect to see much of those two topics, but I'm interested in so many different things and am not too shy about sharing.
I'd love to hear from you (but preferably only if you liked the blog) - you can find me via email at karen then you put a dot in, follow it with suburbaninsanity, all one word like. Then put one of those at thingies. And finish with a nice little gmail another dot and the first three letters of commercial. And yes, this is all my convoluted attempt to keep yet another email address from getting scraped by the Spam Monster of Doom. Think it'll work? Technology just keeps advancing on us...Think anyone can figure out what my email address actually is? We'll have to hope your parsing skills are up to the challenge. Are YOU Smarter than a Spam Monster of Doom?
