Search engines, virtual worlds, the Internet — ever get the feeling you're living in a science fiction fantasy? Well indeed you are. For more than a century, inventors have been driven to create what sci-fi writers have boldly imagined before.

This is one of many reasons why I write science fiction. The only difference is that in my case, nobody was writing what I wanted to read back when I was discovering science fiction (stories about what it was like to LIVE there, BE there, amidst all this technology that changed things, but didn't change things.) So *that's* what I write. Science fiction about being there, living there, wherever, whenever, or however technology-assisted "there" is.
