High School Musical (the sing-along version) was on TV tonight. We watched a little bit of it. The kids thought it was cute. Anastasia zeroed right in on what was happening, which was a bit surprising to me - "Mom, the other girl told this girl that the boy didn't like her anymore." (during the scene where they catch the guy on a webcam saying he doesn't care about the girl/singing/etc.) We had only been watching about 5 mins when she came up with that observation.
After watching for a while, she tells me "Mom - I need you to play the piano and I sing."
Wardrobe change (of course.) Princess dress pajamas (of course.)
Then off we went to the living room. I asked her if I should play twinkle twinkle little star, or jingle bells. She tells me "No, mom, something BEAUT-iful." Oh, sure, I can play that.
I did my best to play a c-chord, followed by a g-chord, along with some random melodies. Anastasia made up words, and danced around the coffee table singing. We finished one song and she needed an encore, so I went for the lower register c-chords. Ah, yes, I vaguely recall how to play. She loved it. And daddy applauded. What more is there to life?
